Rockpool Publishing sent over the Wild Whispers Oracle deck by Nat Girsberger for me to share with you. I hadn’t heard about this deck before I received it in the mail, but its bright terracotta color palette and profound transformative messages took me by surprise as did its theme of exploring the heart and soul of the desert. I took this surprise mail as a sign from the universe that I was supposed to work with this deck for a specific reason. This is how my guides work with me. They put what I need on my path. And a lot of the time that is a theme that my followers/readers need to hear too.
And after exploring the deck guidebook I think I found why my guides arranged this deck to make its way to me:
The creator says, “Change is always imminent both within and without; in the desert, the outlook is so vast, so barren, that tiny shifts feel stark by comparison. Transformation doesn’t occur in the comfort of a flourishing oasis—there would be no incentive for growth. By showing me her capacity to shift in sun zenith’s heat, the desert taught me that my own change—no matter how challenging or slow—was tangible. If she could transform, so could I. If she could flourish, so could I. Her creative power was my own. From where I stand now, my own season of darkness was ultimately my gift.”
Several months ago, I noticed how angry I was at some of the unsettling events occurring around the world. I was really raging at the universe for allowing such darkness to prevail. That anger was stunting my healing journey. It was only in January that I released that anger and entered a state of acceptance to be able to progress on my healing journey while navigating everything happening around me. Now, this deck arrives to show me that when things are comfortable, we don’t feel the urge to evolve or grow. Even if we do, we may not act quickly. We are lulled asleep when we are in a state of status quo.
But in times of crisis when things become untenable, we jump into action and demand change! While I hate seeing what is transpiring around me, I’m continuing to get messages that this all has to happen to wake up the masses all at once. We are being snapped awake so that we must rise to the occasion and bring about the change we want to see in this world. We don’t have time to drag our feet anymore and let change happen slowly over decades. We need radical change and that was never going to happen going along the way we were. Too many were too comfortable for too long. Hmm. I think this deck has a lot to teach me. Once again, my guides know what I need to hear.
After working with this deck for a few readings, I’ve decided I am going to use this for the spring and summer months because these oranges and reds are really speaking to me and it’s lifting my energy! There’s an active energy to these cards that help push me into the movement required to make the progress needed on my path. Even though I am exhausted through this constant struggle we are in, my guides are finding ways to fuel my healing work to keep me on my feet and pushing forward. God bless them for that because I’m so tired.
The creator, Nat Girsberger, says, “Wild Whispers is an ode to vast natural wisdom, both internal and external, and the movement it inspires. It is a reminder that the heart of the desert beats within each of us. It inspires you to tap into your infinite potential and connection to the earth so that you can fill everything you mold with this love.”
Deck Structure
There are 44 cards in this oracle deck consisting of modern and minimalistic imagery that is evocative and transformative. This is not my usual aesthetic that I’m drawn to, but it really works in this format. The minimalistic nature allows you to quickly and easily tap into the wild whispers calling to you from the natural world, and I appreciated that quality of the cards.
“They will inspire you to recognize and alchemize your potential that is as limitless as the desert, so you can be just as bold.”
“Each card is a representation of a potential that exists in the desert and within you; a rock to hold onto as consciousness climbs. Think of them as desert omens for listening, observing, feeling, and ultimately becoming. Let this deck aid you in embracing and expanding the essence you share with this earth. Gold awaits.”
This deck is organized into 4 passing phases of the day: sunset, sun nadir, sunrise, and sun zenith. The sun is here to help you get oriented, reliably rising east and setting west. It is your compass through the cards and through your alchemical journey towards full brightness. The sun mirrors your own cycles of potential and growth. Just as the desert transforms over the day, the sun’s motion is meant to inspire your own inner movement.
What’s really interesting here is that for each of these sun cycles (sunset, sun nadir, sunrise, and sun zenith), she goes into themes related to how the desert inhabitants move and navigate themselves according to the sunlight, heat, and human activity.
So, with the sunset cards, she says desert inhabitants wake as humans end their day. There is new movement, new sounds, new beauty surrounding us as the temperature falls rapidly. The oncoming darkness holds mystery and potential as we reflect on the waning light of the day.
She goes on to say that when the sun is at its lowest point, sun nadir, this is when the desert critters are fully active, and the desert comes alive. We must rely on intuition then, for we cannot see with our eyes in the darkness.
At sunrise when the sun begins a new day, the desert animals retreat and the land is peaceful while the light is soft. It’s a quiet time and the vast potential of the sun shimmers into view. Here we have all the gifts and blessings this day could provide us in front of us to look forward to.
At sun zenith, when the sun is at its highest point, we experience full brightness. There is no truth that isn’t illuminated. This is my favorite card grouping to work with as I am in a point in my healing journey where I seek total illumination – no veil, no obstruction – just utter truth and transparency. I’m ready to see it all laid bare. No more hiding the truth in the shadows. It is time to face reality head on. Here, with full brightness, we can finally see new directions and new paths in front of us, ready for the taking.
I must say, I’ve never seen a deck break things down in this way. It’s exciting to work with a deck this thought out. It’s very enlightening when the messages are this clear and targeted for the purpose of healing through transformation and integration. I see why my guides made sure I had a copy of this deck to work with at this time.
Card Structure
Centered around a core theme, the individual cards are broken down into seven steps that follow a path to transformation loosely based on spiritual alchemy. Those seven steps are below with a description for those themes/processes that the cards walk us through and my thoughts on how this mirrors a lot of the healing work done in therapy.
Whisper as Calcination– “Much like the alchemical flame, this whispered message ignites you to burn away that which hinders your growth. The message could serve to confront unhelpful constructs and urges you to tether your mind to the whisper and notice your reactions and resistances that surface in regard to the theme or card message.”
In therapy, this is one of the first stages of change when the client realizes that their thoughts/patterns aren’t healthy and are not serving them. This is when I as the therapist dig in and follow the resistance that surfaces – that’s where I will find what’s rooting this pattern in place, but we have to follow it down the rabbit hole to discover it first.
Introspection as Dissolution– “Dissolution is the alchemical process of breaking down substances in liquid. Here, it represents the call to explore your inner waters. After identifying what you need to expel, you’ll need to put in the emotional work to do so. Delve within and wade through the murky terrain of unresolved feelings.”
This is the hard part of therapy where the client usually feels the most vulnerable, but the only way to the other side is through all the emotional turmoil. In this stage, we can shed unhelpful attachments and patterns and create space for new growth and eventually a new self. This is a very healing portion of the healing process.
Elements as Separation – “Here, you must discern what is essential and release what weighs you down.” We’ve already identified what works for the client and what doesn’t in the previous stages (separation). Here, “you can embrace, harness, and pay special attention to these essential components—the elements abundant in the vastness within and without—that supports you in finding new form.”
This is what I call the unburdening in therapy. This is where we release the baggage holding you down. Here, I can actually feel a weight being lifted from the client. They even look lighter leaving the office after releasing that weight.
Embodiment as Conjunction – “Here, we synthesize the elements of your transformation into early manifest form. This is the final stage on the physical plane where disparate parts are united into fruit for you to harvest. Here, we will be offered a suggestion on how to integrate the transformation into your physical being.”
This is the phase in therapy where we prepare the client for what the future will look and feel like once the healing work is done. We ask them to imagine how they will feel free from the pain or unhealthy patterns and how it will be to live in a healthier state of mind and body. This is the exciting part of therapy when the client begins to really see the light at the end of the tunnel and starts to really believe change and healing is possible for them.
Practice as Fermentation– “This phase kickstarts the formative process on a deeper level. Seeking to extend the change from the individual to the collective benefit. It will require your engagement and diligence, testing your commitment to transformation. Here you will begin to let go of your former self to make way for your evolved self, which contributes to advancing consciousness at large.”
In therapy, this is how we know change is on the way. We have the client practice techniques to implement this change, to maintain those healthier patterns that are starting to emerge in the client’s life, and to repeat those behaviors/changes on a daily basis to form habits that will bring lasting change. And once they start to feel better in their own mind and body, they begin to think outwardly about how to impact change on a broader level in their lives.
Emblem as Distillation – “Distillation involves extracting the essential substance. Here it is concentrated into a tangible symbol within the collective consciousness—an emblem. Your transformation will appear to show up everywhere.”
Once the client heals, they will start to notice healing occurring around them—in their families, their lives, and the community around them. We tend to heal those around us as we change our lives for the better and we start to see those changes in the world around us that mirrors the change within. We are more attune to it now and see it more often reflected back to us.
Integration as Coagulation – “Transformation solidifies in coagulation, which can also be thought of as integration. The final stage in alchemy is a highly energetic process occurring on the level of a collective soul or consciousness. This unification doesn’t function via mental constructs, however. Allow the essence of transformation to permeate even the subtlest parts of you.”
For this section on the card description in the guidebook, there is always a poem provided that seems to anchor the themes and messages from this card/step in your healing process. Nat says, “The offered poems and reflections are meant to speak to our shared core, so you may retrieve the gold of the desert sun.”
These poems seem like they serve as a mantra or invocation to call forth healing and integrate it into the consciousness of the person and also the consciousness of the collective. As I always say, Heal thyself, heal the world. Whenever change is sparked within us, it is felt in the collective. This is why all our individual healing is so important and impactful at this moment in history. We can truly be the change we want to see in the world. And that’s something you can start to do today that will have a huge impact globally!
In the guidebook, each card has a message that corresponds to each of these 7 stages or steps of the alchemical process described above. This assures that you get the most out of your card pulls daily. Working with this deck feels like a daily dose of therapy to aid your healing journey.
Let’s pull a card, shall we?
We have Solitude that is in the Sun Nadir section. Remember Sun Nadir is when the sun is at its lowest point. For humans, we slow down at this point in the day. And we must rely on our intuition to navigate what we cannot see with our eyes in the darkness.
Here’s what is in the guidebook for this Solitude card.
So, to summarize this card, it is basically saying that our path in life may intersect with others but is ultimately our own to walk. It is the one we chose before incarnating, and it is the one that we will be on for the rest of our life, And it is beautiful in its own way. Be courageous when you walk down this path even though you do not know the destination you will reach. It’s not a lonely path because there you will encounter yourself over and over again in many forms.
This is a journey we must all take to find our authentic self. It is a process of self-discovery that we seek over and over again. To find this self, we must immerse ourself in nature in silence and in a state of receptivity so that we may silence the world to hear the whispers of our soul. We could do so by taking a nature break and removing ourselves from the chaos and noise of the world to tune into our own vibration and listen to the messages of our soul/spirit.
You can put this into practice by taking social media breaks on the weekends, for an hour before bed, OR scheduling an extended retreat sometime during the year. This allows you to carve out time in your busy schedule to escape all the constant distractions that keep you disconnected. In these quiet periods, you can allow yourself to be present in the moment with just yourself.
Overall thoughts on using this deck:
You could use this deck to pull a card from daily or weekly to reveal the healing work/transformation needed at that time. The card you pulled could help you use the energy most present at that moment to create the change you seek on your healing journey. Sometimes I can feel the energy building and shifting within me, and having the words to put to this energy will help me direct that energy into the best path for profound change and progress. There are times when our healing needs a more passive approach as the energy will sort itself out naturally as we evolve over time, and then there are times when it requires a more active approach. I see this deck as being a catalyst and tool for the active healing approach, helping us shift and mold that energy as we work.
My psychologist brain is thrilled to have this deck to play with as I learn more about how to mold this energy to shift things in my life and within myself in more profound ways for not just my own wellbeing but for the collective as well.
I felt I leveled up in my gifts and healing back in January 2025 with a series of very powerful fire rituals with my energy healer. After clearing some pretty extreme past lives that were holding me back, I felt a massive shift forward. And things have been unfolding for me in a rapid pace since then. Receiving this deck out of the blue in March tells me that I am ready for more active change. And I think this is the deck to focus on for that work in the upcoming months. I don’t believe in coincidences. I pay very close attention to when the universe puts things on my path. They certainly grabbed my attention with this deck!
Thanks to Rockpool for sending over this deck to work with and to share with my readers. And thank you to Nat Girsberger for creating such a beautiful and unique deck. I know this is going to help empower more people to take a more active role in their own healing journeys. I could feel the healing power as soon as I opened the box and started flipping through the cards. Beautiful work!
When creating the deck, Nat spoke about her process of leaning into these wild whispers where snippets of change would slowly unfold and transform her life. She saw them as earth omens and desert messages that were coming through as downloads. I love how she spoke of creating not from her own well but from the desert’s well because she was so linked to the heart and soul of the desert and was so open to learn from her.
