When Hayhouse reached out to ask if I was interested in reading a brand-new book on magic and intuition with a unique, catchy name, I jumped at the chance. I’ve been firmly in a witchy vibe ever since starting the writing process for my book series, The Divining Sisters Series, back in 2019, and I find that I only want to read witchy books these days as a result.
Moon Magick card from the Magick and Mediums Oracle
This book, IntuWitchin, has so much magic to offer! Mia pulled me in from page 1 and has immersed me in a magical world that’s been divine to frolic within. She covers topics such as moon magik, divination, astrology, color magik, numerology, reclaiming and healing the witch wound, and even the wisdom of water.
Mia notes that there’s a key difference between intuition and IntuWitchin. “While they both come from within us, IntuWitchin involves our innate capacity to learn and fluently speak the symbolic language of the Universe. It allows us to receive information from every animal or number, any part of our body, dreams, conversations, and more. We’ve all been told to follow our intuition, but IntuWitchin shows you how. It means reclaiming your magik to see how the world around you is always communicating with you and letting you know which way to go.”
Intuition card from the Magick and Mediums Oracle
Even though we all have intuition, this is something that many will struggle to connect with until they work to strengthen it like a muscle. For some of us, it just requires the ability to trust it. Once you begin to rely on your intuition, the mysteries of the world begin to open up to you like a flower blooming. Once we begin to see how reliable this sense is, we will become guided by this gut, our second brain, as we navigate the world around us. In those magical moments, we see that there’s so much more to this human experience.
We’re connected to a larger web that connects us all through invisible threads, something that we begin to understand once we’re called to awaken to our inner guide. Learning to rely on our intuitive center, helps us tap into the beauty of this magical existence. By touching the divine, we heal, love, understand, and transform on all levels. We will be forever changed, thus, changing the lives of all we are connected to. Heal thyself, heal the world.
When I first picked Mia's book up, it reminded me of this quote by C. JoyBell C. “Our bodies have five senses: touch, smell, taste, sight, hearing. But not to be overlooked are the senses of our souls: intuition, peace, foresight, trust, empathy. The differences between people lie in their use of these senses; most people don't know anything about the inner senses while a few people rely on them just as they rely on their physical senses, and in fact probably even more.”
Mia beautifully blends science, psychology, astrology, and magic in an easily digestible manner, which is no small feat. It’s so easy to get lost in this book through the way she lets this beautiful story unfold, weaving her own magical stories into the narrative between her retelling of scientific studies on intuition, healing, and magic, which I found interesting given my background as a psychologist. This book serves as a gentle guide, intended to assist those eager to delve into a deeper understanding of themselves, fostering a meaningful connection with their inner sage.
Mia teaches us how to strengthen that innate ability to converse with the world in a way that leads us to trust the whispers of our soul and the niggling of our gut. By understanding the universe we live within, we learn how to trust that inner knowing that’s innate in all of us from day one on this planet. She’s teaching us to be our own guru – something I’ve long said we all need to embrace. The answers are always within us. We just sometimes need a nudge and a little guidance on how to quiet the noise of the world and learn to bypass our logical mind so we can hear the messages from our inner sage.
Healing card from the Magick and Mediums Oracle
IntuWitchin teaches us how to be our own healer, teacher, and guide. And the fact that the word “witch” sits firmly in the middle of this term, tells me that our inner witch is ready to step forward. It’s time to heal those witch wounds we’ve carried for millennia as we reclaim our power and absorb all the wisdom once thought to be lost through the witch trials. Our inner witches were never gone – just lying dormant till the right time for this healing. This is the exact message of the book series I’m writing, The Divining Sisters Series, so I know this book, IntuWitchin, didn’t land on my doorstep by coincidence. It’s time to awaken the magic within and release it out into the world so that healing can begin on a global level.
Mia has a wonderful and thorough section on healing the witch wound and an interesting take on our self-critic who she refers to as the Witch Hunter, always convincing ourselves to hide in the shadows, play small, not speak up, and hide our gifts. Boy, did I need that message. That’s a big fear of mine left over from my past witch incarnations. It’s an intense fear of coming out of the shadows to be seen – something that cost many of us our lives in the past. It’s a difficult fear to work through, but I feel all the witches of the past have returned at this time to heal this wound together!
Mia provides detailed and unique practices and techniques throughout the book, dozens of them in fact, to help us integrate this wisdom into our life so we can create a more magical existence. I particularly like her technique of meditating in the morning and then channeling a letter from her Higher Self each day. This is the exercise I think I will implement the most, given that I like to write this way anyway. Opening myself up as a channel as I type has always felt the most natural way to receive information from my guides. I usually channel it into my story as I write, but I could see how directing this exercise into a personal guided message for the day would be immensely helpful for my healing journey.
This thoughtful guide that Mia has constructed lays out how each of us can apply this magic in our lives through rituals, magical practices, incorporating the elements into our lives, listening to the messages from our bodies, and understanding the signs and messages the universe is sending us. Mia weaves in so much wisdom through these 240 pages in a way that helps each of us remember who we are. And she leaves us more empowered as a result. By helping us reclaim our innate divine power, she inspires us to begin to co-create with the universe to manifest our ideal life - full of magic and healing. I thoroughly enjoyed all the action items in this book from teaching us about sacred raging, fire rituals, thanking the earth, and music as medicine (my favorite). She even covers sexual repression, internalized rage, and sex magic exercises.
As someone who is constantly working to improve my physical healing capabilities, I paid special attention to her section on body talk where she teaches us how to tune into each specific part of our body to hear their message and how to identify the root causes behind pain and imbalances in those areas. And I learned a lot about color magic, which I don’t see talked about much these days.

I’m finding that this book is helping me awaken more to the idea of conversing with the universe. Through her personal experiences shared in this book and her suggestions for exercises and observations, I’m noticing even more magic around me. And that’s always a good thing. I’m certain Mia will be a guide for the younger generations, ushering them into the world of magic and helping them awaken the magic within. Who better to gently guide us through this awakening process! And do yourself a favor and follow her on Instagram. She’s posting thoughtful and engaging content regularly. This series follows a group of women (witches, healers, diviners) who reincarnate lifetime after lifetime and reunite with their coven so they can fulfill a mission of keeping their craft of divination, healing, and magic alive for future generations.
Alexandra Steele, a clinical psychologist, stumbles upon a mystical store in downtown, Memphis, TN, where she encounters tarot cards for the first time. She doesn't realize it at the time, but this simple encounter will leave her life forever changed as she uncovers a world of past life connections to the cards and the craft of divination. This sparks an awakening that opens door after door of a long line of mystic and witch incarnations that run throughout her history. As she reconnects to these deep mystical ties, she begins to learn about her destiny, which is revealed as she starts to encounter coven sisters and foes from previous incarnations. Will her tendency to hide in the shadows and play small continue to hold her back or will the call of the cards lure her onto her destined path of a life full of magic and sisterhood?
